Sherrill & Bros.: A Love A-Fur
Few things can make a woman feel more glamorous, luxurious and empowered than an authentic fur coat, and nobody knows it better than Sherrill & Bros. founder Marcia Sherrill, who found comfort in inexpensive furs after losing every last bit of luxury in her life in a bitter divorce.
“I realized that this was where my heart was — sharing luxury with folks from all walks of life. No more elitism…everyone should feel cozy and luxurious.” says Marcia, who came to this realization following a high profile divorce (always a private gal, she went on the Today Show to talk about it) which saw her go from The Queen of Alligator Bags to Bag Lady. She lost her brand, her income and even her home, rotating between her friend’s couches in Manhattan, but she never lost her entrepreneurial spirit and workhorse ethic. Undeterred she plowed through leading to the creation of Sherrill & Bros., Sherrill’s first foray into luxury after the divorce.

Today, Sherrill & Bros. offers affordable, handmade python handbags, crocodile belts and wallets, and authentic fur — which hold a place close to Marcia’s heart. “The inspiration for this adventure? Well, as a designer I had plenty of friends in the day who made fur coats and I had the crazy orange and pink and green fur coast to prove it but at some point I couldn’t even afford wholesale prices and with several companies competing for my money and attention I began buying inexpensive fur coats abroad and using them to update my now very dated wardrobe. I felt RICH. I felt swathed in Luxury and everywhere I went from the Airport security girl to the grocery bagger screamed about my coats that I had designed and they are cheap!”
With fall upon us, we have trunk shows lined up to appease women clamoring for affordable and stylish fur coats, something that Sherrill worked so hard to achieve “I am back in my own wheelhouse and selling designs I can be proud of both for their design and their cost. Now, I can start praying that we
can soon open a store on the Upper East Side, but I am working with my best friends and doing what I love- Fur Coats and lovin’ it!”
